[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Dr. Jart BB “Blemish Balm” creams launched the BB cream craze here in the states and helped influence the current obsession with Korean skincare and beauty, after arriving to Sephora in 2011.

Since then, many brands have developed their own line of BB creams, but we decided to take a look at the Dr. Jart+ originals, including the brand’s Dis A Pore, Radiance, Premium, Black Label and Silver Label BB creams.

A few things to note about all of these Dr. Jart BB creams:

  • They contain physical sun blockers (titanium dioxide & zinc oxide), important to note when looking for a product to block UVA and UVB rays.
  • They only come in 1 or only 2 colors citing that the cream adjusts to your skin tone as it settles in; we found this to be somewhat true, but almost all required additional blending of bronzer to achieve the right tone

Dr. Jart BB Cream Dis A Pore SPF 30, 1.7oz

  • Recommended skin type: combination to oily skin
  • Coverage: flawless
  • Finish: smooth, matte
  • Texture: medium thick
  • Colors: two colors; fair – light & medium – deep
  • Wear: long lasting

This BB cream is one of my favorites since I have troubled, acne prone skin. The elastic silky polymer gives a tight adherence for all day wear, covering blemishes, smoothing pores and fine lines, while herbal extracts control excess sebum. My skin appears smooth, flawless, but still very natural and the coverage will last from early morning until evening.

Dr. Jart BB Cream Radiance SPF 30, 1.5oz

  • Recommended skin type: any skin type
  • Coverage: natural
  • Finish: natural
  • Texture: lightweight
  • Colors: one universal color; fair – medium
  • Wear: medium wear

This BB cream only comes in one color, which is fairly light. As you blend it into your skin the result is a soft sheen, smooth, natural finish, and lightweight wearability. I prefer this cream for daytime errands or outdoor activities.

The Vitamin Tree Fruit (also known as Baobab Fruit is packed with more Vitamin C than oranges) and its active ingredient, Snow Lotus, (also known as Saussurea; a flower used in traditional Chinese medicine) brightens the complexion giving a radiant glow. Love, love, love, this BB cream.

Dr. Jart BB Cream Black Label Detox SPF 25

  • Recommended skin type: acne prone
  • Coverage: medium
  • Finish: natural
  • Texture: moist, sticky
  • Colors: one universal color; medium
  • Wear: long wear

While this BB cream is made for my acne prone sensitive skin type with benefits that soothe dehydrated skin, prime the skin’s surface, help erase dark spots and protect from pollutants, it’s not my favorite. The color is too dark and appears mask-like when applied. If I use just a pea sized amount, it looks okay, but then it doesn’t provide enough sunscreen coverage (the Skin Cancer Foundation recommends a dime sized dollop of SPF for adequate protection.) Though, it didn’t work for my skin color, it may work better for darker tones.

Dr. Jart BB Cream Premium SPF 45, 1.5oz

  • Recommended skin type: aging skin
  • Coverage: natural – medium
  • Finish: natural
  • Texture: moist, sticky
  • Colors: two colors; light – medium & medium – deep
  • Wear: long wear

If you’re concerned with restoring firmness, elasticity, brightening, then this BB cream is for you. The serum, moisturizer and SPF in one, helps combat signs of aging by protecting against pollutants and environmental factors with antioxidant bio-peptides and adenosine (a powerful wrinkle smoothing agent). I like the smooth finish, light wearability, and easy blend able coverage.

Dr. Jart BB Cream Rejuvenating Silver Label SPF 35, 1.5oz

  • Recommended skin type: uneven skin tone
  • Coverage: full
  • Finish: flawless
  • Texture: moist, sticky
  • Colors: one universal color; light – medium
  • Wear: long wear

For a flawless night out, this BB cream is perfect. It will cover every imperfection, smooth pores, and help control oil. But if you’re like me, you may need to use bronzer to blend the right color. The one color fits all does not work in my case and this BB cream can appear very whitish.
