Getting Ready: Paula Mallis – Doula, Yoga Teacher & Meditation Expert

Whether you’re pregnant, a current mom, or a woman seeking connectedness and spiritual guidance, Paula Mallis offers services that can bring you into alignment. The mother and doula operates out of a chic studio space in Venice, CA and teaches birth prep, prenatal yoga, meditation and the most intriguing, moon circles. After chatting with Paula about her placenta encapsulation services we were so smitten with this natural beauty that we had to inquire about her morning beauty routine. 


“Everything I apply to my skin is organic and sometimes locally made. I find it sooo important to know what I am applying to my skin. I love the new product line I just starting using called Eminence Organics. In the mornings I cleanse with their Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser and at night when I need a deeper cleanse after being out and about all day I use their Red Current Exfoliating Cleanser.

After a shower I love to apply oils to my body. My go to right now is Jiva Apoha Amma Oil. I apply it when I get out of the shower or bath while my skin is still damp so it will penetrate and I love perfume oils that I apply to my wrist and neck. I’m currently loving right now 11 11 by Lake and Skye. I use the Balm by Scent of Awe; her universal balm is amazing. My daughter loves it too.  

One thing I could be treating myself to more are epsom salt and essential oil baths. I love them! My intention is to slow down and make the time to apply this ritual. I also have mantras playing while getting ready for the day or winding down for the night. I feel they center me especially during my morning routine.

As much as I would love to mediate first thing in the morning I don’t always get the sacred space to do so. Living in LA I’m in my car a lot! My car is my private sacred space. I mediate a lot in my car especially before pick-up at my daughter’s school. I also love my daily smoothie I treat myself to from Moon Juice! It contains cacao, Ashwagandha, coconut butter, banana, almond milk and blue adaptogen protein. Yum, yum!

And I also always like to get my greens in at least once a day either through food or a green juice, since I find my skin is more glow-y when I am up on my green intake. 

Overall what’s the most important in my daily ritual of beauty and self care is being loving and compassionate with myself!”
